DELAYS of up to ten minutes have been reported on the A814 between Helensburgh and Faslane after Scottish Water work resumed in Rhu.

The company has returned to the area after the festive break to continue improvement work which first began last year.

Work started in October on the A814 between Torwoodhill Road and the HMNB Clyde off-site and media centre and is expected to last for around five months.

The improvements are part of a wider £5 million programme in Argyll and Bute to improve and protect the coastal waters around the Holy Loch and parts of the Firth of Clyde.

Work was halted temporarily to minimise disruption over the festive period.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Water said: “We know that Christmas is a busy time for people travelling to visit family and friends, and for that reason work was halted and temporary tarmac laid to minimise disruption over the festive period.

"We’re back on site to continue our work which is phased over nine months, starting from October 2017.

"As with any Scottish Water investment work, we have engaged with and met with local stakeholders and community members to keep them up-to-date with work as it progresses.

“We do appreciate that the roads around the site can get very busy with traffic, particularly at peak times.

"In a bid to minimise delays, the traffic lights are under manual control to reduce the impact of the peak MoD traffic on Monday to Thursday 6.30-9.30am and 4.30-6.30pm and Friday 6.30am to 1pm.”
