DRIVERS travelling between Helensburgh and Argyll have been warned to leave extra time for their journeys after landslip mitigation work resumed at the Rest and Be Thankful.

The work was put on hold over Christmas and the early part of the new year due to bad weather, but construction teams have now returned to the site and are expected to continue working until the summer.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place until the work is complete.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “We’re pleased to resume the construction of the debris flow catch-pits following a period of adverse winter weather.

“The temporary traffic lights are necessary to keep our teams and users of the route safe throughout the duration of the works.

"We’ll endeavour to keep all stakeholders updated as the works progress, and thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete these important works.

“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
