THERE will be no contested elections to any of the community councils in Helensburgh and Lomond this spring, it was announced this week.

In all of the eight community councils in the area – Cardross, Helensburgh, Luss and Arden, Rhu and Shandon, Garelochhead, Rosneath and Clynder, Cove and Kilcreggan, and Arrochar, Tarbet and Ardlui – the number of people who put their names forward as candidates was less than the number of spaces available.

And in three areas – Cardross, Rosneath and Clynder, and Cove and Kilcreggan – the number of candidates did not even reach enough to form a quorum, and a further by-election process will take place on June 28 in a bid to fill the minimum number of places.

The people who stood for the five other community councils in the local area, and who have been elected without a contest, are as follows.

Arrochar, Tarbet and Ardlui: Amanda Acikgoz, Ellen Greenwood, Iain Hunter, Ronnie MacDonald, Jean Mustarde, Angeline Paxton, David Pollard, Ronnie Ross.
