THE West Highland railway line has been closed after reports that a 'sink hole' had been discovered beneath the track.
ScotRail announced on Wednesday morning that no trains would run between Glasgow and Crianlarich following the discovery on the line north of Arrochar and Tarbet station.
Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.
The train operator said in a statement: "We have had reports of a sink hole on the track between Ardlui and Arrochar and Tarbet.
"Staff have been on site inspecting the condition of the track but the line will remain closed until a further inspection can be made in daylight hours."
Helensburgh Upper (pictured), Garelochhead, Arrochar and Tarbet, and Ardlui stations were not served as a result of the closure.
Replacement buses operated in place of the day's first train services; the company said buses were "currently being sourced for the remainder of the day".
Trains on the Helensburgh Central route were not affected.
