AN AWARD-WINNING Helensburgh chippy has been congratulated in a motion at the Scottish Parliament.
The town’s MSP, Jackie Baillie, lodged official congratulations at Holyrood to the Wee Kelpie in West Clyde Street, and its owners Kerr and Nicola Raeburn, following our story on the chippy’s success in last week’s Advertiser.
The business was crowned ‘best takeaway in Scotland’ at the Scottish Hospitality Awards last month, retaining an award last presented in 2014.
Ms Baillie’s motion says that the Wee Kelpie’s “continued success is a shining example of the excellent quality of food and customer service that it is famous for locally”.
Writing on The Wee Kelpie's Twitter account, Nicola said the couple were "proud and privileged" to have been mentioned in Parliament.
