Residents from the Helensburgh and Lomond area are welcome to attend the opening of Arrochar Community Hydro Society this week by Sir Malcolm Colquhoun of Luss Estates.

The society are also delighted to welcome Paul Wheelhouse MSP, minister for business, innovation and energy, to the official opening of the hydro scheme on Friday, May 18.

The day starts at 11am with everyone meeting at Three Villages Hall, Arrochar, for a guided walk up to the Arrochar Hydro Turbine House.

This will take approximately 30 minutes and will involve a steep uphill walk. People are encouraged to wear sensible shoes or walking boots,

The official opening will take place at 12noon at the turbine house.

For those who do not wish to walk up to the turbine house, the society hope to be able to provide a live screening of the event in Three Villages Hall in Arrochar.

A buffet lunch in the hall will be available from 1pm.

The Arrochar Community Hydro Scheme intends to distribute the profits from the project on an equal basis between the the Arrochar & Tarbet and Luss & Arden Development Trusts.

And the day will be finished with a race night event in the Three Villages Hall to raise money to support local young people to volunteer in Africa.
