PUPILS from Lomond Junior School, Clarendon, have taken part in the Academy of Culinary Arts adopt-a-school programme.

Children from classes in the primary six age group went to the Cameron House Hotel to meet chef Peter Fleming.

The event involved a discussion of the use of all the senses when eating.

The youngsters tried bread, crisps, endive and lemon and then discussed them.

They were later blindfolded and had to identify the items. The children also tried tasting jelly that was the wrong flavour for the colour and emphasis was put on should they try something even if they don’t like the look of it, said a school spokeswoman.

She said: “Everyone had a great time and they all received a chefs hat to take home and some of the pupils got aprons too.”
