The Helensburgh Savoy Music Theatre group have played a sell-out performance of songs from stage and screen in the Victoria Halls.

The group’s committee decided to try a new format and venue for this year’s Spring concert, and their work paid off as crowds enjoyed the enthusiastic show.

Pauline Forrest, the secretary for the group, said: “We have had such positive feedback about the concept it is very encouraging for next year.

“It was wonderful to see so many people in the audience and we are very sorry that some people were not able to get the tickets they had hoped for.”

The show, titled ‘Mad About Musicals,’ promised to be entertaining and add drama and dance to make it special and crowds were not disappointed with the group showcasing songs from High School Musical, Wicked, 42nd Street, Calamity Jane and many more.

The group finished the evening with the title song from the musical 9-5 which will be their next stage production running from November 7-10 in the Victoria Halls.

Anyone looking to join the group should email info@helensburghsavoy.org.uk for further details.

Open auditions for principal roles will be held on June 6 and pre-registration is required.
