A Loch Lomond Cruise passenger says her trip was ruined by a private yacht that prevented the tour boat from landing.

Ruth Strauss, a retired teacher, claimed her tour from Luss to Inchailloch was cut short after men on the yacht refused to move and started giving the skipper, staff and tourists abuse.

She told the Advertiser: "The men were drunk and had lost the boat ignition key apparently."

Ruth, and two other tourists from Asia, received a refund and a free ticket to the island for the next day.

A spokesperson for Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park said, “Thankfully incidents like these are rare and National Park Rangers spoke to the people involved."

Ian Paterson, a councillor for Lomond North, added: "This is an isolated occurrence and this is the first incident I have heard of, the loch is usually a friendly place to purse leisure activities.

"If anyone is subjected to any abuse of this kind they should report it to the park authority, giving time place, name and number that is on the craft. No one should be subjected to this kind of behaviour."
