THE Post Office says it is “working hard” to return postal services to Rhu after the village branch closed without warning, or explanation, last week.
The closure left Rhu and Shandon residents facing a trip to Helensburgh or Garelochhead to access Post Office facilities.
A spokesperson for the Post Office said: “Unfortunately from time to time, Post Office branches do temporarily close for reasons often beyond our control.
“However, we always want to see services back up and running as quickly as possible and would like to reassure people that we are working hard to find a solution to restore services to the Rhu community as soon as possible.”
Rhu businessman Robert Ryan said: “It’s been one of the main topics of conversation over the last week.
“The local folk rely on it to a great extent.
“From our own point of view we use the Post Office to pay in money, so now we can’t do that either.”
However, mail is still being collected from the post box.
