You may think it’s merely a cereal box. But in the right hands, m’dears, it is, of course, a jet pack. As worn by all self respecting astronauts when attending to external wear and tear on the international space station.

You may imagine that is merely a large balloon. When actually, with the addition of papier mache, it is obviously the template for a space helmet in which the aforementioned interplanetary travellers can obtain oxygen.

Perhaps you think it’s just a little green man on a bicycle. When, as you may see this coming Saturday morning, it is in fact an emissary from the universe dispatched to this planet to see what earthlings wear on parade.

Yes – it’s the Sea Change festival again this weekend on the Rosneath Peninsula, and everyone from the Rainbows and Brownies, to primary school children, their teachers and carers, have been pressed into service for the fancy dress romp from Kilcreggan to Cove Burgh Hall.

And their journey will not be in vain, given that there’s a full sized Planetarium within, where they can have a full star-struck experience after tucking in at the Planet Peake café.

The kids will be back in action the following day when their space-themed art will be exhibited at Cove Park and they’ll give us all a rendition of the song they’ve composed with local maestro Stephen Adam.

But there’s lots for the adults going on too – provided they can cope with the pace set by the community’s young performers.

Check it all out on the Sea Change Facebook page or at coveburghhall.uk.
