MORE community consultations are planned for Helensburgh’s ‘Making Places’ project after the latest session took place this week.

Architects for the initiative, funded jointly by Argyll and Bute Council and the Scottish Government, were available at the town’s Civic Centre on Monday night to hear the public’s opinions.

And Ross Wylie, of Glasgow-based firm Ice Cream Architecture, says that the responses from residents are helping to drive the project forward.

He said: “On Monday we met with Helensburgh Community Council, discussing the project at this early stage and trying out the Place Standard Survey with them, whilst also having another drop-in evening session to try out the place standard and see the data gathered so far.

“There will be a couple more consultation events coming up which we hope to get people along to. It’s a matter of sussing out what times would be best.

"We have undertaken the Place Standard Survey, online and in person, with 91 participants in the last two weeks.

"Across the public engagement so far we have met with over 50 people, plus the Helensburgh and Lomond Youth Forum. Across the public engagement so far we have met with over 50 people, plus the Helensburgh and Lomond Youth Forum.

“The project is gathering, and will continue to gather, information about people’s feelings about how Helensburgh is at the moment. We want to hear their thoughts on tackling particular issues.”

Dozens of residents have already taken part in the survey, which allows people to rate different aspects of their area.

The next public date will be a visioning event on Wednesday, June 13, which takes place from 2pm to 7pm in Helensburgh Parish Church hall.
