PLANS have been submitted for a new boutique B&B, offering kayaking experiences, to be situated at Craigendoran Pier.

Josephine Forrester has applied to Argyll and Bute Council for permission to build the facility, the business plan for which brands it The Pier B&B.

Represented by Glasgow-based Corstorphine and Wright Architects, Ms Forrester also wishes to place steel containers for kayak storage beside the proposed development, as well as carry out landscaping works and install parking facilities.

Councillors will now consider the plans, with a determination deadline of Sunday, July 29.

The business plan for the proposed B&B says: “We plan to be more than a great bed and breakfast. We plan to create an environment of pampered luxury in bespoke surroundings that surpasses the standard fare for Helensburgh.

“We intend to promote the attractions and history of the area, with the emphasis on easy access to Loch Lomond, Inveraray and Oban, and the easy opportunity to take excursions on the Waverley Paddle Steamer Ship.

“The current state of the pier is one of dilapidation, [and] neglect and has been used for illegal dumping.

“We feel it is important to make the site safe, while still relatively accessible by the general public.”

Josephine added: “We fell in love with the views instantly
