People in Helensburgh have raised nearly £1,000 for Alzheimer Scotland after taking part in a 'Memory Walk'.

Volunteers raised £968.68 at the walk on Saturday, June 9 as part of Dementia Awareness Week.

Clare Stockwood, from Alzheimer Scotland, told the Advertiser: "Our resource centre held a charity event.

"There was a walk from Colquhoun Square to Kidston Park and back, an open day in the café serving afternoon tea and an information stand and charity collection in the square.

"This was run by staff and volunteers."

She said: "Our volunteers work incredibly hard and it's lovely if we can give them some recognition for this, as well as thanks to the community for supporting us."
