LOMOND School's 40th birthday celebrations officially drew to a close with a day of fun events for all the school's pupils.

Just two days after the Lomond School Sports Hall had been transformed into a fabulous marquee for a gala ball attended by former pupils now living all around the world, the venue was transformed once again – this time hosting a 100-foot inflatable obstacle course as part of a full day of activities organised to allow current pupils the opportunity to mark the end of the celebration year.

Pupils had been asked what they would like to do on the day and, with a great team effort from all of the teaching and support staff, a programme of exciting and challenging activities was organised for the entire school, from Junior 1 all the way up to Senior 6.

Pupils were organised into groups in their respective houses – Bergius, Graham and Colquhoun – with each group reflecting the whole range of ages at the school.

Senior pupils and primary children worked together as teams to complete challenges including the obstacle course, artwork and problem solving tasks.

A great barbecue for lunch saw every part of the school campus being utilised and pupils thoroughly enjoying the experience, and the glorious weather only added to the fantastic atmosphere on the day.

Principal, Johanna Urquhart said: “It is on days like today that I am reminded of how lucky we are to be part of the Lomond School community.

"The level of support, team work and respect shown between staff and pupils means that we can truly enjoy days like this and it has been such a pleasure to both take part and watch the events.

"I’ve seen so many of the school values come to life in our pupils and staff today and that is such a rewarding part of my job.

"The fun day has really exceeded expectations and has been the icing on the cake of what has been a very busy year celebrating our big four zero!”

House points were awarded for each task and contributed to the overall house championship totals, which led to Colquhoun House being crowned house champions at the school's prize-giving later in the week.

For the pupils it undoubtedly ticked all the boxes they had asked the staff to deliver – and sent everyone into the last two days of the term with a sense of fun and celebration.
