Helensburgh Parish Church was packed to the rafters as Lomond School celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2018 and the academic, musical and sporting successes of its pupils over the year.

Guest speaker Craig Scott, a former Lomond boarder who now runs several of his own businesses, spoke with passion, sincerity and humour about his time at the school in the 1980s and how it had shaped his future career.

Mrs Urquhart, in her Principal’s report, paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of staff and pupils throughout the session, and there was warm applause for the teachers who retired at the end of the session and for school groundsman David Petro on his 40 years’ service.

Pupils were then presented with their prizes by Mr Scott.

Three new prizes were awarded this year with the Ram Cup for best sporting all-rounder going to Mackenzie Serpell, the Martin Everett Quaich for best dramatic performance being presented to Molly Keating, and Alice Mucklow receiving the Macleod Award for most improved traditional musician.

Kristina von Kaehne and Millie Grover received the two main service awards, the Rotary Cup for Service and Citizenship and the Lawrence Cup for Service to School respectively.

The overall House Championship was won by Colquhoun.

Kirsty Aitchison was the winner of the Murdoch Proxime Accessit Prize and the winner of the Stewart Medal and Dux of the School for 2018-19 was Emma Dunn.

Final farewells for the departing S6 were held at a Leavers’ Tea at school before pupils and staff headed off for well-earned holidays.
