A HELENSBURGH entertainer and fan of the hit movie The Commitments suffered a brief moment of stage fright – when a star from the film walked into the bar where he was performing.

Superfan and singer Kris Blak, 42, was in the middle of a set at the Tolbooth Bar in Glasgow when Dave Finnegan, the actor who played furious drummer Mickah Wallace, stopped in for a sing song and some selfies.

Kris, who also performs a one-man tribute act to the film, said: “His name popped up as a friend suggestion on Facebook because we have a few mutual friends, so I thought I’ll add him, not expecting him to accept it. But he did and we got chatting on Messenger.

“He said he was living in Glasgow now and I jokingly told him I was performing in the Tolbooth on Monday and that he should come in for a pint.”

Kris said he was a massive fan of the film growing up.

“I wasn’t expecting him to come down at all,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it. He came right up to me and shook my hand, and I think I forgot the words of the song I was singing.”

Kris, who grew up in Helensburgh, introduced Dave to a surprised crowd who then chatted and took photographs with the star.

The pair then went on to sing ‘Mustang Sally’ together and Kris performed a few more songs.

Since then, they have continued messaging each other and are planning to go to each other’s gigs.
