Helensburgh’s eagerly-awaiterd annual flower show is now little more than a week away.
The Helensburgh and Gareloch Horticultural Society (HGHS) will hold its 168th annual flower and vegetable show at the Victoria Halls on Saturday, August 25, opening to the general public at 2pm with prize giving at 3.30pm.
The society promotes horticultural interests in the local area and encourages young children by holding bulb competitions between all the local primary schools.
During the winter the society holds monthly meetings with guest speakers giving talks on a wide variety of horticultural topics.
This popular event not only exhibits plants, flowers and vegetables, but also handicrafts and baking.
Stewart Pittendreigh from HGHS told the Advertiser: “There is something at the show for everyone, so go along and see what can be achieved in your garden.
