TWO men have been charged with attempted theft after police investigated a report of males fishing without a permit in the town.

Officers attended the town’s reservoir at the top of Sinclair Street at about 8.50am on Saturday, August 11 to investigate the report.

As a result of enquiries carried out the two men, aged 38 and 40, were charged. The 40-year-old was also allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of controlled drugs.

Both men are the subject of reports to the procurator fiscal for the alleged offences.
