HELENSBURGH groups were amongst a number of organisations who worked together to help 2,000 school children from across Glasgow learn how to save a life.
Hampden Park was the venue for the event which saw organisations such as Glasgow The Caring City and the Save a Life for Scotland Campaign come together to teach children CPR and take part in a festive charity conga around the pitch to raise money to tackle poverty.
Under the watchful eyes of voluntary first aid organisations and emergency services, up to 2,000 lifesavers learned the vital skills using 150 manikins.
Among the voluntary organisations taking part was Heartstart Helensburgh and Garelochside Rotary and and Helensburgh and District CPR/Defibrillator Association.
Also attending was Ibel and Andy MacNeil and Alan Wilson. Ibel and Alan were successfully resuscitated with a defibrillator Sheenah Nelson, Heartstart Co-ordinator Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary and chairman Helensburgh & Local District CPR/Defibrillator Association, said: “We worked with many children and I was delighted with their response and how well they learned. I hope that they went away from the event with the confidence to take action should a situation ever arise.”
Volunteers were given certificates of recognition for their work with Heartstart Helensburgh Garelochside Rotary and Helensburgh and Local District CPR/ Defibrillator Association.
