THE imaginative winners of Helensburgh Toyota Dream Car Competition have been announced and all entries have been put forward to the UK competition.

Helensburgh Toyota Dream Car Art organiser, Leona Barclay, said: "Imaginations were going wild for this year’s Local Dream Car Art Competition. We’ve seen cars that could fly, go under water, run on fuel made from rubbish and travel at the speed of light from the young people throughout Argyll & Bute and East & West Dunbartonshire.

"We had a fabulous response from the local children and their dream car designs were amazing and showed that a lot of thought time and effort were put into them."

The competition was split into three categories with close competition in each. The winner of each of the age groups scooped a Kindle Fire and £100 for their school with the runners up receiving Amazon vouchers.

The winner in the under eight category was Ava King, from St Joseph's Primary School. Taking second place was Sam Fiddes from Arrochar Primary and in third place was Soleece McKechnie from St Joseph' Primary.

The winner of the 8-11 age group category was Taylor Cameron from John Logie Baird Primary School. Miriam Lopez from Colgrain Primary School took second place and Carmen McKell was the third place winner from Rosneath Primary.

In the 12-15 age category first place was awarded to Pheobe Barr from Hermitage Academy, Leo Silvan from Tarbert Academy took second place and Hermitage Academy pupil Rachel Berry took third.

Over 350 entries were received from the Hermitage Academy, Tarbert Academy, Rosneath Primary, Kilcreggan Primary, Colgrain Primary, Meadowburn Primary, Mosshead Primary, Cardross Primary, Garelochhead Primary, Arrochar Primry, St Joseph's Primary, Rhu Primary and Lennox Primary.

Leona added: "The judging panel had a very difficult task as all the entries were of such high standards. Well done to all the finalists."

The entries have all been sent to the UK competition of which the winners will be announced shortly.

From all the applications, first, second and third place for each category will be selected by a panel of judges and they will be invited to an awards ceremony at Toyota HQ in Surrey.

The UK winners will then be entered into the World Contest to compete against winners from across the globe to win a dream trip to Japan.

In 2014, for the first time, there was a winner from Helensburgh. Charlie Sutherland from John Logie Baird and her parents won the trip to Japan and had an amazing time and experience.
