A POTENTIALLY deadly plant spotted on the Rosneath Peninsula and Ardmore Point has now been spotted on Cardross beach.
Pet owners have been warned to be aware after Hemlock Water Dropwort, commonly known as poisonous parsnip was sighted on Cardross beach, close to the Scottish Water unit.
The poisonous part of the plant is the tuber (the root-like structure). The plant is found along the shoreline especially after stormy weather.
Pet owners are asked to pay close attention to their dogs when out and to discourage them from eating anything.
If your pet does eat anything, owners are asked to contact their vet as soon as possible as the effects of eating the plant start within 20 minutes.
