ROWER and adventurer Sarah Outen is set to speak in Helensburgh as the last 'Inspiring People' talk of the programme.

Sarah will share with audiences the tale of her treacherous and at times, seemingly impossible journey to circumnavigate the globe entirely under her own steam.

In April 2011 Sarah set off from London's Tower Bridge on her London2London:Via the World, journey.

Her goal was to loop the northern hemisphere by rowing boat, bike and kayak over two and a half years, sharing the experience with schools as she journeyed.

Four and a half years later Sarah paddled back under Tower Bridge having had a journey quite different to the one she imagined.

For most of the adventure Sarah was by herself except the kayaking legs where she was joined by paddler Justine Curgenven.

Audiences will hear of the young Chinese man who joined Sarah on a whim through the Gobi desert, to a mid ocean rescue after a tropical storm to the remote Alaskan communities in the Aleutians.

Sarah is set to share her tales of success, failure and exploration with a Helensburgh audience on Thursday, March 30 in the Victoria Halls at 7.30pm.

She will also be signing copies of her latest book, Dare To Do. Tickets are available at the door and online until midday the day before the talk. Tickets are free for RSGS members, Students and under 18s, £8 for Tiso Outdoor Experience cardholders and £10 for visitors.
