HELENSBURGH'S volunteer lifeboat crew answered a call for help after a yacht ran aground off Greenock on Sunday afternoon.
The RNLI lifeboat was launched at 3.18pm after the UK Coastguard received a call for assistance from the crew of a 38-foot yacht that had gone aground on the edge of the Greenock Bank.
Once on scene the lifeboat's crew established that no damage had been done to the hull of the yacht; however, as the tide was ebbing, all the lifeboat crew could do was to lay out an anchor and advise the yacht's crew how to navigate back into deeper water once the tide flooded.
Having done so the lifeboat crew returned to base and reported ready for service at 5.15pm.
