A LOMOND school pupil who has been fundraising for the National Autistic Society is delighted with the £2,000 raised at his latest collection.

Calum Deverill, who has Asperger’s, has been fundraising for the charity for around a year while preparing to sit his higher exams at school.

The fifth-year pupil began with a bucket collection in Glasgow and has since hosted collections in Helensburgh and at the Empire Cinema in Clydebank in which a lucky individual won an Easter basket.

The collection on the day raised £340 and the Easter basket was won by Clydebank man, George Cochrane.

Calum and his mum Karen delivered to basket to Mr Cochrane who donated it to the Robin House children’s hospice in Balloch.

Calum extended his thanks to everyone who donated on the day and to all those who have contributed to his fundraising total so far, as well as the Empire Cinema for their ongoing support.

Calum said: “I have really enjoyed raising funds for NAS and it has been good learning to work as part of a team as generally I prefer to do things on my own.

“I plan to continue fundraising as I know the money is put to good use.”
