THIS weekend looks set to be another busy one across Helensburgh and Lomond, with a range of community events being held throughout the area.

If you're looking for something different to do this weekend, here's a run-down of what's happening...

* Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group are preparing for their Spring Concert - A Musical Medley in May.

The concert will take place in the United Reformed Church Hall at 7.30pm on May 19 and 20.

Tickets for the event are priced at £6, £4 for under 18s and are available from First Class, club members and on the door on the night.

*Cove and Kilcreggan Christian Aid are hosting a market on Saturday, May 20 from 2-4pm in Cove Burgh Hall.

Stalls will include baking, jewellery, plants, books, tombola and a draw for a hamper. Afternoon tea will also be served on the day.

*A Christian Aid Grand Fayre is also set to run on Saturday, May 20 from 10am until 12 noon at Helensburgh Parish Church, Colquhoun Square.

Entry for adults is £2 and 50p for children. The usual stalls will be there including home baking, jewellery, books, plants, traidcraft, toys and gifts.

*The Helensburgh Community Woodland Group are hosting a public consultation.

Their application to register a community interest in the land at Cumberland Avenue was approved by the Scottish Government, which is the first step towards a community buy-out of the land.

They are now looking to bring local people together to to plan how to turn the neglected land into a real environmental asset for the benefit of everyone.

The public consultation will be held on Saturday, May 30 from 3-5pm in the Lomond School Sports Hall, Rhu Road Higher, Helensburgh.

* Cove Sailing Club is preparing to host its Push the Boat Out event which will see the club open its doors to the public on Saturday, May 20 from 10am until 4pm.

The event will give people the opportunity to get a taste of activities on the water with sailing or motoring.

Push The Boat Out is held in conjunction with the RYA and people of all ages are encouraged to head along and give it a try.

There is plenty to do on shore including face painting, kids nail bar, car boot, home baking and food and drink.

* The Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club in Rhu are also hosting an open day on Sunday, May 21 between 11am and 3pm.

As part of the Royal Yachting Associations Push The Boat Out initiative the event will give visitors the opportunity to try sailing in the club's fleet of Sonar keelboats, have a look around the clubhouse and find out about the different activities the club offers.

All embers of the public are welcome to attend the free of charge event.
