MEMBERS of the Gareloch Riding for the Disabled Association group said a huge thank you this week to three of their trustees who have recently retired from the organisation’s board.

Horses Seven and Bella assisted with the presentation of small gifts to Liz Cochrane, Russell Graves and Jeff Stobo at the group’s Tuesday session.

Liz, who has been responsible for fundraising and grant applications for the last five years, has sourced more than £127,000 for the group.

This has enabled the group to develop into what it is today and, most importantly, maintain its ponies and horses.

Russell Graves has been responsible for the recruitment and training of volunteers and for the group’s record-keeping and maintenance of its equipment, including the cabins, lift and hoist.

Jeff Stobo initially took on the role of treasurer as a temporary measure and found himself in the role for two and a half years.

The role of treasurer has become much more complicated, not only with the income and expenditure but also compliance with a growing volume of legal and accounting legislation.

Kate Bennet, from the Gareloch RDA group, said: “As we have been unable to find a replacement Jeff has kindly agreed to continue – but only for the short term!

“We are very relieved that all three are continuing to stay with the group as volunteers.”
