HELENSBURGH and Lomond councillors have approved the award of more than £800 to meet the cost of a visit from the Burgh's 'twin town' in France next month.
Members of Argyll and Bute Council's Helensburgh and Lomond area committee agreed to give £833 to the Helensburgh and District Twinning Association, which is preparing to host a delegation of 57 people from Thouars from July 12-19.
As reported in last week's Advertiser, the funds - along with an award of the same sum, approved last December - will be used to pay for a special event on Bastille Day, July 14, along with a farewell dinner at the Victoria Halls at the end of the visit and a trip to the Inveraray Highland Games.
The funding awards use up all the authority's Helensburgh and Lomond twinning budget for both 2016-17 and 2017-18.
