For this week's rummage in the Advertiser's archives, we go back 15 years to our report of five Helensburgh young people who received awards for their work with a community youth project in the town.

FIVE members of the Backchat youth project were rewarded for their community work at an awards ceremony.

Karen Rae, 17, was highly commended for her work as senior volunteer within the project on Helensburgh’s Churchill estate.

Heather Pennell,16, was highly commended for her work as junior volunteer.

Seventeen year-old Craig Berrie received an achievement award for his efforts within the youth project.

Linzi McIntosh, 15, also received an achievement award.

The youngsters have been involved in many fund-raising and organisational roles.

The Backchat scheme itself also received an award for its involvement in the community.
