MOTORSPORT fans are gearing up to welcome one of Scotland's top rally events to the forests near Arrochar this Saturday, June 24.
A special stage of this weekend's Argyll Rally - round five of the ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship - will be held in Glen Croe, above the old Rest and Be Thankful.
The event, being organised by the Mull Car Club, will bring back to life some of the most famous - and most feared - stages in Scottish rallying.
The area has a motorsport heritage dating back to the 1970s, when a round of the old British Rally Championship was held every year in the forests of the Cowal peninsula.
High Larich, West Loch Eck, Beinn Lagan, Gleann Mor and Glenbranter are still familiar names to long-standing rally followers throughout the UK and beyond, as well as Glenshellich, known to many a seasoned rally competitor as 'Glen Hellsih' for its fearsome combination of tight hairpins, a few flat-out blasts and the frequent risk of steep drops to the valley floor below.
The Arrochar stage is due to get under way at around 1pm on Saturday - find out more information at www.argyllrally.co.uk.
