THIS weekend is looking like another busy one in Helensburgh and Lomond - if you're looking for something different to do this Saturday and Sunday, here's your essential What's On guide to the area...

* Cove Burgh Hall is the venue for the weekend-long Cove and Kilcreggan 'Sea Change' festival.

Friday night sees a 'Para Handy' night (7pm for a 7.30pm start) with two vintage episodes of the classic TV comedy, compered by River City star Joyce Falconer and also featuring performances by fellow actor and musucian Annie Grace to the cabaret in between the screenings.

On Saturday the festival's annual fancy dress parade - led by a circus! - gathers at the Old Boatyard in Kilcreggan at 10.30am, with the parade itself beginning at 11am.

There's a circus workshop for all ages at the hall at 1pm, before a performance of high skills and great comedy in a specially-assembled Big Top in the hall in the evening (doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start).

On Sunday there's another circus performance in the Big Top at 11am, featuring Japanese world champion Unicyclist Daiki Izumida and award winning clown Cheeky, along with ringmaster Steve Cousins (aka The Balloonatic).

The final event in the festival programme is a barbecue at Cove Park at 1pm on Sunday, with musical entertainment from the Peninsula Choir, Pippa Reid Foster and Jarvis Jamieson, along with a children's art exhibition and prizegiving, plus food and refreshments.

* In Helensburgh itself, Helensburgh Community Council's latest beach clean takes place on the Helensburgh seafront on Saturday, June 24 from 10am to 12 noon.

If you'd like to take part, just come along to the noticeboard by the skate park armed with rubber gloves, sturdy footwear and, if possible, a spade or fork.

Argyll and Bute Council will provide bags and arrange for their removal afterwards.

* Enjoy cycling but not keen to go too fast? Then the first 'ride-out' by Helensburgh's new Gentle Cycling Group takes place on Saturday, June 24.

Meet at the Victoria Halls car park on Sinclair Street at 10am for a cycle run to Balloch. The route will be almost entirely on cycle paths.

If you prefer you can take your bike by car to the top of Sinclair Street, where the group will meet you opposite the entrance to the Skating Pond at around 10.30am.

The cyclists will return the same way, or the group may decide to split, with some going down the cycle path along the River Leven to Dalreoch and getting the train back to Helensburgh from there.

Bring water and a snack and, if you can, a puncture repair kit - though there will be people help if you do get a puncture.

The distance to Balloch is approximately 8.5 miles. There's no need to book, just turn up. Contact Archie Westwood on 07849 241893 for more information.

* The Boys' Brigade and Girls' Brigade in Helensburgh are hosting a coffee morning at Helensburgh Parish Church on Saturday, June 24 from 10am-12 noon.

There will be stalls, gifts, books and home baking, and admission is £2 for adults and 50p for children.

* Helensburgh and West Dunbartonshire Ramblers' walk on Saturday, June 24 is The Whangie circular.

To join the walk meet at Helensburgh Swimmign Pool car park to depart at 9.30am. Sorry, no dogs.

Visit www.hwdramblers.me.uk for the full programme and contact information, or phone (01389) 731953.

* Helensburgh's Big Sing for Christian Aid - also known as 'Hymnfest' - takes place this Sunday, June 25, at 7pm at Helensburgh Parish Church.

The event is a chance to raise your voice in song in some of the best-loved modern and traditional hymns.

Leading the singing will be the church choir, directed by Derek Clark, with organ and praise band. All are welcome.
