HELENSBURGH and Lomond members have helped to contribute to Dumbarton and District’s Grade 2 and Juvenile pipe band's outstanding season.

The group, now in its 49th year, have travelled far and placed well in some major tournaments.

The juveniles placed third in the European Championships for their category and took ninth place in the world at the recent World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green.

The newly formed Grade 2 band has also seen success this season as they qualified for the Grade 2 world championships final.

A spokeswoman for the band said: "Most recently both bands came away with an outstanding achievement of no less than 16 trophies at Bute Highland Games including best drum corps and branch champions."

The Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon finished off the season with the juvenile band taking second place at the competition on August 26.

The band are looking forward to their 50th anniversary, which they hope will be an action packed and "fantastic" season.

The juvenile band are always looking out for new upcoming talent, regardless of experience and are looking for anyone under the age of 18 who is interested in getting involved to get in touch.

Anyone looking to join the Grade 2 must have experience but are advised to contact the Dumbarton and District Pipe Band for more information.
