OUR latest trip down Helensburgh's memory lane takes us back ten years to the donation of a defibrillator to Helensburgh's swimming pool in memory of a man who died at the facility.
Here's how we reported the story on September 13, 2007...

Staff at Helensburgh Pool took delivery of a vital new piece of life-saving equipment recently.
The family of the late Alec Birnie, who sadly passed away after suffering a heart attack at the pool last year, donated cash to fund a portable defibrillator for the facility.
First-aid-trained staff can use the machine, which administers a therapeutic electrical charge to victims of serious heart conditions in a bid to regulate their heartbeat.
Stuart Latimer of Helensburgh Pool, said: “Management and staff would like to say a special thank you to family and friends of the late Alec Birnie for so generously providing the funds to purchase a portable defibrillator.
"Thanks also to the British Heart Foundation for contributing to this very worthwhile project.”
