ARGYLL and Bute Council's Helensburgh and Lomond area committee will hold its first meeting since the summer recess in Helensburgh this week.

The ten councillors representing Helensburgh Central, Helensburgh and Lomond South and Lomond North are due to gather in the marriage room at the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre on Thursday, September 21 at 9.30am.

Members of the public are, as always, welcome to attend the meeting to see local democracy in action.

Thursday's agenda will include updates on the Helensburgh waterfront development, the spending of £650,000 left over from the town's CHORD regeneration works, and disposal of council-owned properties put up for sale on the completion of the new Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre.

There will also be progress reports on the James Street community garden in Helensburgh, the Helensburgh-Cardross-Dumbarton cycleway and plans for a new park-and-ride facility on the old gasometer site in East Princes Street.

As is now customary on the area committee's agenda, there will also be an opportunity at the start of the meeting for members of the public to ask questions of their local councillors.
