THE organisers of the Rhu and Shandon Gala are appealing for more people to get involved with the organising of the event.

The gala, which evolved from a small fete in a football field to an annual event, held most recently at the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club, has been running for 20 years.

A new committee has taken on the daunting task of organising the event in the last few years, which this year included the Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band, Cadona's Yankee Flier, a classic tractor, a fire engine and a petting zoo.

The committee, which currently has six members, are looking for new faces to get involved and help them deal with the challenges of setting up such an event.

With a new structure in place, and new ideas, they are looking for people to take on different roles including, marketing and advertising, social media, stall management, attractions management and secretary work.

Anyone interested in helping out in any of the roles or finding out more is invited to the gala day’s AGM at the Rhu Community Centre on Tuesday, September 19 at 7pm.

People with ideas and questions about the event are also invited along to the meeting or can alternatively email the committee at rhugala@outlook.com.
