A CHARITY initiative aiming to engage school pupils from armed forces and veterans’ families is coming to Helensburgh next week.

The Royal Caledonian Education Trust is organising a ‘Teen Talk Conference’, one of which is scheduled to take place in the Tower Digital Arts Centre on Wednesday, September 27.

The conference has been organised to give school pupils the chance to speak out about the highs and lows of growing up in an armed forces family.

The Trust wants to empower young people to speak out and improve understanding between civilian and military communities and improve their confidence while reducing feelings of isolation.

The Trust's education programme manager Moira Leslie said: “The events will be interactive, creative spaces for the young people to share their experiences and tell us what they need and what needs to be done to improve integration between civilian and military communities.”
