A NEW personal training centre "at the heart of Helensburgh" has opened its doors – and the owner says he couldn't be happier with how it has been received.

Steve Losh was a fitness instructor in the army for 27 years and when he left a few years ago decided to continue to use his skills to help other people.

He started SOS Fitness five years ago, and has recently opened up The Journey on Helensburgh's seafront.

SOS Fitness had been providing personal training in Hermitage Park, but with renovations under way, Steve and the team set about looking for a new venue.

Steve told the Advertiser: "I found a location which suited what I needed. We run various classes all over the town and now The Journey is in the heart of Helensburgh.

"My time in the military was done and I wanted to keep going. I believe everyone's fitness journey starts with a single step and me and my team are there to support people along the way."

Between 150 and 170 people attended the opening of The Journey in West Clyde Street.

Steve said: "We were blown away with the turnout when we opened and the response since has been fantastic.

"We have had a lot of support from the local community and both new and existing members.

"Over the last two weeks we have had 50 new people sign up, attracted by the fact we tailor the training to their needs.

"No two people are the same and we realise that. Between The Journey and SOS Fitness we can tailor a plan for just about everyone."

For now, Steve and the team are looking to continue to deliver results to their clients and enjoy seeing people succeed, but he does have plans for expansion.

Steve said: "I'd love to be able to scale up what we have and open up another Journey elsewhere, in an area with the same level of interest. This experience hasn't put me off and I'd love to grow if we can."
