POLICE have confirmed that a man who was recovered from the water off Helensburgh on Monday died at the scene.
As previously reported on this website emergency services were called to Rhu Marina at 2pm on January 8 after a report was received of a man in the water.
Police and ambulance service personnel were alerted along with a coastguard helicopter and the crew of Helensburgh's RNLI lifeboat.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed that police had received a report of a man in the water at Helensburgh.
She said: "Emergency services attended and removed a 54-year-old man from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal."
The man's identity had not been released as this article was published.
