MEMBERS of the GIVE volunteering programme in Helensburgh and Lomond are to put together a fund-raising calendar as part of the 2018 Year of Young People celebrations in Scotland.

The calendar project will be launched on Tuesday, March 20, coinciding with International Happiness Day.

The calendar will feature just some of the many community groups across Helensburgh and Lomond, with the Helensburgh Youth Forum’s members the first to find themselves in front of the camera when their picture is taken on the day of the launch.

Over the next few months the young people from the GIVE programme are going to take photos of different community groups such as Grey Matters and Visiting Friends.

The completed calendar will be launched for sale later in the year, with all funds raised from sales going towards funding the GIVE programme’s plans for future events.

The GIVE project – GIVE standing for Get Inspired through Volunteering and Engagement – is a partnership between the Argyll and Bute Third Sector Interface (TSI) and Argyll and Bute Council’s youth services team.

Gillian Simpson from the Argyll and Bute TSI’s Helensburgh office said: “We would like to invite community groups to take part and be photographed for the calendar.

“It’s about raising the profile of all the wonderful groups and activities that go on in our community and showing how fantastically our community supports each other.”
