MORE than £1,700 has been raised following the sale of furniture from two redundant Argyll and Bute Council properties – including the Municipal Buildings in Helensburgh.

Items included a number of tables and chairs, and gave members of the public the chance to buy a piece of civic history from the former home of Helensburgh Town Council, and also from Campbeltown Town Hall.

Some of the Helensburgh items purchased are expected to be re-used in the Sinclair Street building when it opens as a Peckham’s restaurant.

Proceeds from the sale of the surplus Helensburgh items will allow other items of civic interest to be displayed in the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre.

But it’s not too late if you would like to get yours hands on some of these unique items as all un-sold furniture will be going under the hammer at McTears Auctions in Glasgow this Friday, March 16.
