IN a new feature on the Advertiser's website, today we start a daily trip down Helensburgh's 'memory lane', courtesy of our weekly dig into our archives.

For the first in our daily 'Archive Hour' feature, we go back ten years to our report of Helensburgh Amateur Swimming Club's Age Group Butterfly Championship in 2008.

Here's how we reported the news in the Advertiser on March 13 of that year – whose faces can you pick out of the photograph above?

HELENSBURGH Amateur Swimming Club held its fourth Age Group Butterfly Championship event recently. The butterfly event tends to see fewer competitors take part due to the difficulty of the stroke.

However, it was good to see so many new swimmers competing in this event for the first time and producing such excellent performances.

It was a great night for Amy McNeill who put in an outstanding performance to set a new club record in the eight and nine year 50m event. The winner of the Nigel Atkinson Merit Trophy was Victoria Cox.
