VILLAGERS in Ardlui have opened their arms after an appeal was launched by a British comic to find a place to play as part of his UK wide tour.
Dave Gorman, 38, is travelling the length and breadth of Britain, five years after his last tour, and is calling in on towns from Inverness to Swindon, stopping off at Arlui on Wednesday 23 September.
The Ardlui Hotel has offered its services to the comedian, who has found many weird and wonderful venues including barns, church halls and a railway dining car.
Dave will cycle to each new venue where he will perform every night, on the aptly-named "Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop and Stand-Up" tour, covering some 1,500 miles over 32 days in the saddle.
'We have a room for him to hold his gig', said Scott Squires from the Ardlui Hotel.
'If he would like to come to the Ardlui Hotel we are more than happy to welcome him.'
Dave made his name on the BBC Radio 4 series called Genius, where he invites celebrities to judge an invention by a member of the general public, based on its "genius rating".
The show has since been screened on BBC2, starring guests including comics Catherine Tate, Frank Skinner and Johnny Vegas.
Dave will be hoping for clear, sunny skies when he sets out on his bike for Gramphound village hall on August 30, and will get to take a break when the tour finishes up at Lyth Arts Centre on September 30.
