The A83 at the Rest and be Thankful will be closed for the foreseeable future following Tuesday's landslip.

Scotland Transerv said today (Wednesday) no timescale can be given regarding road reopening.

A spokesman said clearance works had restarted at 7am this morning after 480 tonnes were removed yesterday.

"Currently an additional 250 tonnes have now been removed and good progress is being made to clear the carriageway completely," he said.

"A site assessment will be carried out today and until such times as evaluations of hillside stability, supporting embankments and road damage have taken place no timescale can be given regarding road reopening. Road user safety is of vital importance in circumstances such as this and will be the overriding factor in all decisions taken.
