THE Route 81 youth group in Garelochhead had more reasons to celebrate this week after being awarded almost £200,000 funding.
The cash from the Climate Challenge Fund will go towards installing a renewable energy heating system and fully double glazing and insulating the renovation of the outdoor centre, which the group hopes will be open next year.
Chair Alistair Duncan said they were delighted to have scooped the cash windfall.
"Not only will these measures make us more environmentally friendly, but they will also help to reduce the costs of running and maintaining the facility."
The funding was awarded to projects nationwide designed to help tackle climate change by reducing local communities' carbon footprints in imaginative ways, and inspiring others to follow suit.
Green MSP Patrick Harvie said: "I'd like to heartily congratulate all of the local projects that have received an award from the Climate Challenge Fund. They are amongst a growing number of communities across Scotland that are proving to be this country's best source of innovation on tackling climate change. The people behind these projects are true climate pioneers, doing work we can all be proud of.
"What's particularly satisfying is to see projects coming forward that are designed to go beyond tackling climate change, by boosting local employment, supporting active and healthy lifestyles, and bringing communities together."
