Have YOU been targeted by bogus workers? Let us know!
A warning has been made for people to be on their guard for conmen after a bizarre incident in Helensburgh this week.
Police have issued the alert after a builder turned up on the doorstep of a 72-year-old man and refused to go away for an hour - insisting the OAP had paid for work to be carried out.
When he eventually left, pensioner David Core, who spoke to the Advertiser, discovered his new car had been vandalised, and police are investigating if the two incidents are related.
A deep gash more than half a metre long was gouged into the side of his six-week-old Peugeot 308 after Mr Core returned a piece of slate to the back of his property.
The incident happened at around 12.50pm on Monday.
Police confirmed that they are investigating a vandalism at an address in Kings Crescent, which happened at approximately 1.15pm on September 14, and have issued a description of a man they would like to talk to in connection with the incident.
He is described as a white European male, approximately 21 years old and 5ft 7inches.
He was of slim build, with short light hair and a local accent.
If anybody witnessed this incident they are being urged to contact PC Daniels at Helensburgh Police Station 01436 633600.
