Police in Garelochhead are appealing to members of the local community who may have information about a recent spate of vandalism to contact them.
The appeal comes after a fence was cut through near to the side of a busy road in Arrochar (A83) on two separate occasions between 8.30pm on 25 August and 3.45pm on 26 August and again between 7pm on 26 August and 13.30pm on 27 August.
Garelochhead based Constable Andrew Crawford added: "By damaging the fence in this way the vandal could have allowed the horses that are kept in the field to stray into traffic with serious consequences for drivers and the livestock.
"This act was one of extreme folly that could have resulted in a serious accident and potentially the loss of life. I'd urge anyone in the local community who can identify the person or persons responsible to contact police in Garelochhead on 01436 81084.
"Alternatively, to maintain anonymity, the public could choose to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
