TEAM EFFORT: Volunteers with some of the bin bags full of rubbish.
AN amazing 140 kgs of litter has been collected from Lochgoilhead and Castle Carrick beaches.
According to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority, soft drink cans, fast food wrappers and fishing ropes were just some of the items cleared by the group, which compromised of National Park volunteers and members of the local community.
The day was kick-started by National Park Ranger, Rowan Fraser who gave a talk about marine conservation.
Volunteer Elspeth Quinn said: "When I saw volunteers were needed for the beach clean, I was delighted to help.
"It was a fun and extremely worthwhile day - it was fascinating learning more about marine conservation and very satisfying relieving the environment of 140kg of litter."
The event was organised as part of the National Spring Clean Campaign by
Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs through their 'OUR park' scheme and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority.
