HELENSBURGH and Lomond Chamber of Commerce made an historic move this week ... literally.

The chamber took possession of its new office in Helensburgh's Municipal Building - its first "proper home" since it was formed.

The office will be staffed on a part-time basis by Jane Worsfold who will be doing the Chamber admin and Gillian Barclay who will be working on marketing and membership development.

The office is on the first floor but a bell system is in place for people to alert the team that they are there.

Gillian will be contacting local businesses in the near future for those businesses who are yet join the chamber and let them know of the benefits of joining the Chamber of Commerce and a number of events are also being planned.

The next is a meeting of members of Thursday, May 20 at 5.30pm in the Commodore Hotel coffee shop.

This meeting will allow members to see and discuss the first proposals of the CHORD Project team who are working on the town centre regeneration project and the chamber is keen that a members go along and play their part in the future of the town.

On June 4 there is the annual John Logie Baird luncheon which will be held this year at Duck Bay Marina.

The guest speaker for the event will be Amanda McMillan who is managing director of Glasgow Airport. Tickets are £25 per person with discounts for groups of eight or more.

And on June 14 there is the annual golf event at the Carrick on Loch Lomondside.

If anyone would like more information they can contact the chamber by emailing jane.worsfold@helensburghchamber.co.uk and it is hoped that a telephone system will be up and running within the next few days.
