FABULOUS! That was how news of a very special royal visit was greeted this week.

His Royal Highness Prince Charles, the Duke of Rothesay and his wife Her Royal Highness Camilla, Duchess of Rothesay, will be visiting Luss and Arrochar next Thursday, June 3.

The Royal couple's visit will take in Arrochar Parish Church, the new Three Villages Hall in Arrochar and Luss Parish Church which is celebrating the 1,500th anniversary of its Christian heritage.

The Rev Dane Sherrard, who ministers to both Luss and Arrochar, described the news as "fabulous" and Retta Deerin of the Arrochar and Tarbet Development Trust said that the Trust was "absolutely delighted".

Mr Sherrard, church elders, fund-raisers and some of the local tradesmen and volunteer workers who carried out the building restoration work, along with activity leaders and members of the parish congregation, will be presented to the Royal couple at the church.

The visitors will then be taken to the Three Villages Hall where they will meet members of the Community Development Trust and members of the Arrochar and Tarbet Community Council, along with representatives from the major donors to the capital project.

At Luss, as well as seeing the church, the heritage centre housing the Rossdhu Book of Hours, the loom room, Pilgrims Palace and church glebe, the royal guests will both plant trees as a permanent reminder of their visit.
