CHRISTMAS SPIRIT: Colgrain Nursery has already donated £1,000
CHRISTMAS is months away - but people in Helensburgh are already planning ahead.
The town's festive lights appeal have been launched, with residents being urged to donate money.
Colgrain Nursery is leading the sleigh by donating £1,000 to make sure Helensburgh shines during the festive season.
Friends of Victoria Hall are in the process of setting up an online payment system to allow residents or businesses to make a donation.
This year the fund-raising team, which include Vivien and Tony Dance, along with Caroline Mundie and Joan Fraser, hope to raise over £8,000.
Cash has also been raised through various activities and to date the quartet has raised £500 from Come Dine With Me Events, £175 from a family donation and £300 from ACHA Community Fund.
Other fund-raising events include bag packing at the Co-operative in Helensburgh and a stall at this winter's food and craft fair.
Councillor Vivien Dance said: "Our big plan for this year is to install fittings across Sinclair Street and these are being designed at the moment.
"We hope to make Christmas brighter again for Helensburgh this year and we are thrilled to bits that Colgrain Nursery has been so generous and supportive."
